Kratek opis odprave:

 


Tako kot predhodno, tudi posadko MVP-11 sestavljata le dva vesoljca. Razlog za to so prizemljeni ameriški raketoplani, kar pomeni, da za oskrbovanje Mednarodne vesoljske postaje skrbijo samo Rusi z vesoljskimi ladjami sojuz in progres. Glavna naloga poveljnika Krikaljova, enega najbolj izkušenih vesoljcev nasploh in ladijskega inženirja Phillipsa bo vzdrževanje sistemov na vesoljski postaji ter nadaljevanje množice znanstvenih, medicinskih in tehnoloških raziskav. Med odpravo sta predvidena tudi vesoljska sprehoda in sicer en v ameriškem, drugi pa v ruskem skafandru.
